Meet the Owner
Hello, I’m Cleachete Goss, the proud owner of I Needed That. I’m originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, and I’m also U.S. Navy veteran. My journey to starting my business wasn't something I could have planned, it was shaped by life's twists and turns, moments of heartbreak, and ultimately, the healing power of laughter.
When I was 19, I dreamed of owning a nightclub. Back then it was all about parties and good times. As a young Sailor, that vision fit the life I was living. But as time went on, life had other plans for me. After leaving the military in 2016, I found myself navigating some tough waters. By 2020, I was a single mom raising three kids after two divorces. Then came unemployment, which left me questioning everything about my future. But nothing could have prepared me for what came next.
Between 2021 and 2024, I experienced unimaginable loss. First, I lost my mother. Then my father passed away in 2023. Just two months later in 2024, the love of my life, my fiancé, was gone too. It felt like life had knocked me down over and over again with no intention of letting me get back up. Grief became a constant companion, and there were days when even getting out of bed felt impossible.
But here's where my story takes a turn, a turn that changed everything for me. In the midst of all that pain, something unexpected happened: I laughed. Not just a polite chuckle or a forced smile, I mean a deep belly laugh that reminded me what joy felt like. It was in those moments that I realized laughter wasn't just entertainment; it was medicine. It didn't erase my pain, but it gave me the strength to carry it.
That's when the idea for I Needed That was born. I wanted to create a space where people could come as they are, whether they're celebrating life's highs or barely holding on through its lows, and leave feeling lighter than when they walked in. Because let's be real, we've all been through something. And sometimes, what we need the most isn't advice or distraction, it's just a good laugh.
This is more than just a business, it's personal. It's a reflection of everything I've learned about resilience and joy. I know what it feels like to carry grief into every part of your life. Your work, your relationships, even your sense of self, and how hard it can be to find light in those dark places. But I also know how powerful it is when someone makes you laugh at just the right moment. There's always room for joy!
